In 1994 I went to Cordoba, Spain to discover the roots of Gypsy guitar. I learned the art of Flamenco guitar and met Tomatito, Manolo Sanlucar, Rafael Riqueni, Pepe Romero, and other Flamenco greats. I learned this musical Gypsy language through my Chicago jazz roots. Continuing my journey on the Romany trail, I travelled in 1996 to France to the Django Reinhardt festival. Camping next to Babik, son of Django, I had a dream to play Gypsy music in the States and invite other musicians. I formed a band of local musicians while continuing my travels to the Gypsy festival. In 2004 I was invited to play at this prestigious festival showing my band's own unique interpretation and style. This year I present the 20th annual Chicago Gypsy Jazz festival. Enjoy!
